MCFC Fans Foodbank Support

MCFC Fans Foodbank Support was set up on 1 January 2020 when a group of Manchester City season card holders decided to start collections on matchdays at the Etihad and Academy Stadium to help in the fight against food poverty.

They’ve gone on to collect over 10 tonnes of food (equating to 25,000+ meals), and tens of thousands of pounds in donations. They also became the biggest regular donor to Manchester Central Foodbank before the COVID-19 pandemic, and the group works with more than 19 other foodbanks across the Greater Manchester region.

The group continued its expansion further. Within Manchester, it is working with groups including ACORN Manchester, GM Tenants Union, Manchester NEU and South Manchester RMT to not only fight food poverty, but to combat its causes including precarious housing and employment.

Nationally, the group joined the wider Fans Supporting Foodbanks National Network in a campaign to see a Right to Food enshrined in law alongside the rights to education, healthcare and equality among others.

Donations can include:

Tinned vegetables/fruit

Tinned meat/fish

Pasta/rice

Rice pudding

Tinned custard

Baked Beans/Chopped tomatoes

Tea Bags/coffee

(Please avoid donating items that need to be kept in  fridge/freezer)
